Learn MoreDear Malachi Center Friends,
The holidays are a wonderful season of love, giving, and unity. We are reminded of your past generosity, which has fueled our ability to help families on the near West Side of Cleveland, especially during the Holiday seasons. Due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic, our Adopt-a-Family program looks a bit different this year. We have limited the families we are adopting to a list of those we currently serve. We know that there are still families in need in our community. We are writing to invite you to participate in a different way. If you are still interested in helping out a family in need for the holidays, Malachi Center has compiled a list of the various types of ways you can choose to donate instead of participating in the Adopt a Family program:
Compile your own family bag full of activities, toiletries, winter gear, and holiday supplies. Grab a tote bag, fill it, and drop it off at the Center and we will coordinate its distribution to a family in need! We have attached a list of suggested items, but feel free to take some liberty with the contents of the family bags themselves!
Items must be packaged into a tote bag and can include: Snacks (granola bars, chips, fruit snacks, rice krispies, etc.), hot chocolate packets, mugs, S’mores kits, Gingerbread house kits, markers, crayons, glitter glue, chalk, craft kits, coloring books, playing cards, Uno, Goldfish, board games, activity books, slime kits, outdoor recreation items, jumpropes, blankets, 2 children’s winter hats, 2 pairs of children’s gloves, 1-2 adult winter hat and gloves, full-sized toiletries (Bath and Body Works), deodorant, holiday gift items, kitchen towels, local pizza / other eatery gift cards, body lotion, laundry detergent, sponges, dish washing soap, cleaning spray, etc.**
** Your constructed bag should at a minimum include 2 children’s winter hats and 2 pairs of gloves and 1 adult winter hat and pair of gloves and a warm blanket! Please get in contact with Lynn Scott at lynn@malachicenter.org or 216-771-3036.
